Micky Ward Returns to Mohegan Sun

Micky-Ward-2Prince Marketing Group’s Micky Ward participated at Mohegan Sun’s Signings & Sightings event on Saturday, November 14, 2015. Ward appeared at the Bow & Arrow Sports Bar, where he he greeted fans with an autograph session. Fans lined up to talk with Micky, who was returning to the scene of the first of three legendary bouts with Arturo Gatti at Mohegan Sun, which he won by decision in 2002. Many called the bout the fight of the century. Ward was regarded as the perennial underdog and a sort of blue collar, working-man’s hero, which is part of his enduring appeal to many in the area. In other news pertaining to Ward, fans don’t often mention Ward without saying Gatti’s name, particularly in New Jersey, where the late Gatti established himself as a boxing legend. The last two fights of Gatti’s thrilling trilogy with Ward were contested at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City in November 2002 and June 2003. Ward recently returned to the state for his enshrinement into the New Jersey Boxing Hall of Fame during the organization’s 46th annual dinner and induction ceremonies at The Venetian. “This is a great honor,” Ward said. “I’m very excited. I’m not from this area, but it was basically my second home. I fought here more than I fought in any other state, including Massachusetts. When you’re fighting four-rounders, six-rounders and eight-rounders, you don’t fly to fights, you drive. In the beginning of my career it seemed like I was driving from Massachusetts to Atlantic City twice a month.”
