Darryl Dawkins Conducts Autograph Appearance
Darryl Dawkins appeared at Nielsen Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram on Saturday, March 28th in East Hanover, NJ courtesy of Prince Marketing Group. Dawkins, or “Chocolate Thunder” as he was nicknamed by Stevie Wonder, took some time with each fan in attendance to autograph their sports memorabilia and pose for photos. Gifted with a sense of humor nearly as entertaining as his slam dunks, not one fan left the auto dealership without an autograph and a smile.
Dawkins played fourteen seasons in the NBA for the Philadelphia 76ers, New Jersey Nets, Detroit Pistons and Utah Jazz. The Orlando native averaged double figures in scoring in nine of those fourteen seasons and played in three NBA finals with the Philadelphia 76ers in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Dawkins also set an NBA record for fouls in a season (386 in 1983-84). Dawkins is probably most famous for shattering two backboards in a span of three weeks during the 1979 season.
