The Iron Sheik had title defenses against Chief Jay Strongbow, Pat Patterson, Bob Backlund, Salvatore Bellomo and Tito Santana. January 23, 1984 at Madison Square Garden, Hulk Hogan defeated Iron Sheik for the WWF World title in one of the most famous matches of all time. |

He is best known for his time in the World Wrestling Federation in the early- to mid-'80s, and is credited with being the first ECW Heavyweight Champion and introducing the high-flyer style of wrestling to the WWF. |
