Dennis Rodman in Japan
Prince Marketing Group negotiated a media tour in Tokyo for NBA Hall-of-Famer Dennis Rodman. During the tour, Rodman conducted several interviews with various media outlets discussing this year’s upcoming NBA playoffs. Additional time was spent participating in a meet and greet with 30 lucky fans. Rodman’s appearance culminated with a live NBA Playoffs special on Wowow (www.wowow.co.jp), in which he made predictions on each playoff series and identified particular players to watch in the postseason. The players that Rodman was most looking forward to watching included LeBron James, Kawhi Leonard and Steph Curry.
During Rodman’s visit, Japan’s Kumamoto Prefecture experienced a series of earthquakes and aftershocks that devastated the region and surrounding areas. Rodman expressed his condolences in a video message taped by satellite television station WOWOW.
“I hope everybody who got hurt, I hope you guys come together, like you always do in the history of this country,” Rodman said. “Hope you guys come together and be as one. I hope that everything will be OK. My heart, my blessing is for your family and your country.”
In addition to the NBA, WOWOW has broadcast all four tennis Grand Slam Championships since 2008. They broadcast UFC Japan on February 26, 2012 and have since continued to broadcast UFC events.
